Former minister of aviation, Chief Osita Chidoka has urged Nigerian governors to emulate governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s laudable commitment to the service of the people through the dispensation of peoples oriented projects.
The ex-minister made the call during the
commissioning of two road projects spanning 2.4km in Yola.
The roads include Zumo street and Doctors Quarters road covering all in Yola South local government of Adamawa State.
While aligning himself with the goal of Governor Umaru Fintiri of not leaving anyone behind, Chief Osita commended the Governor for embarking on such urban renewal campaign.
According to the former Minister, it is the sole responsibility of any government to develop its state so as to open more windows for investment.
In his remarks, Governor Umaru Fintiri said at the inception of his administration, it unveiled its 11 Point Agenda that provided not only the philosophical foundation, but a moral guide for the administration and since then they rolled up their sleeves and set out to work boots on, by launching an aggressive multi-sectoral approach to development.
And in response to the infrastructural deficit of the State government he said the government has designed a two-pronged approach Urban renewal programme and Rural Infrastructure and Community Development stressing that the urban renewal campaign is ongoing and recording a huge success.
Governor Fintiri said the campaign is carefully crafted policy with a vision to create a mega capital city with all the municipal trappings that can open up Adamawa State for investors and deliberately produce semi-urban centers that would serve as excellent cosmopolitan withholding hubs for the containment of urban- rural drift.
He further pointed out that government is leaving no stone unturned in making sure that it ends the perennial water scarcity in Yola and the attendant consequences on the residents of the town,this he added is the reason behind the huge investments in the Small Towns Water Scheme.
To respond to the housing deficit in the State, he said government is constructing a 1,000 Units Mass Housing at Malkohi, here in Yola South and happily announced that works have reached advance stage on the Housing estate which is adjudged to be the largest Housing Programmme by a single administration in the annals of Adamawa State.
As a responsible government, Governor Fintiri said its strength for economic survival is an ingenuous investment in the agribusiness value chain. It is against this background that we are set to launch the ADAMAWA STATE AGRIBUSINESS SUPPORT PROGRAMME calling on all citizens to support and prepare to exploit the opportunities in the programme
Earlier in his welcome remark, the Commissioner of works and energy development Alhaji Adamu Atiku Abubakar saluted the doggedness of Governor Fintiri in ensuing that all areas enjoy dividends of democracy within just two years
