2 cross-border Indian hemp dealers arrested by Adamawa police

Adamawa State police command, has arrested two cross-border Indian hemp dealers and recovered two operational motorcycles and large consignment of the substance.

The development, according to the command’s image-maker, DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, was sequel to the reinvigoration of special security action plan to enhance fight against banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery and other violent crimes.

The suspects, Ibrahim Audu (31) and Alkasim Musa (32), all residents of Ganye town were apprehended at Dakalaji, an Adamawa/Taraba border community.

“The commissioner of Police, Aliyu Adamu Alhaji, has reinvigorated special security action plan, to reinforce the ongoing fight against banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery and other violent crimes across the border areas.

“The new special operation strategy, which will be intelligence-led and community-driven, will be executed in sustained collaboration with the Security agencies, Vigilantes/Hunters.

” The border operation is aimed at re-dominating and reclaiming the public space from criminals that are bent on threatening security in the state and bringing the offenders to book.

“Both dealers who were smuggling large cache of cannabis into the state through Dakalaji, Taraba border, Kiri district on 16/8/2021, thereby denying them their target consumers that are mostly into violent crimes.

“Note also that border operation is a good initiative and will critically evaluate the pattern and trend of crimes in the state. There shall be massive and well-planned deployment of both human and other operational assets of the command to reinforce and consolidate on keeping Adamawa safe.

“The Frequent Border Operations is aimed at preventing and dislodging bandits from their current operational spaces and denying them space to regroup in other parts of the State. It will also ensure that all arrested bandits and their collaborators are brought to book.

“The CP assured the Government and good people of Adamawa state that the command shall continue to do all within its powers to guarantee a stable security order across the State.

“He calls on the civil populace to work with the Police and other security agencies in the joint tasks of safeguarding our state, especially in the area of providing useful, relevant and timely information,” Nguroje said.
