Northern christians under the aegis of the Christian Association of Nigeria have complained to President Muhammad Buhari that his appointments have not been fair to them.
Rather, they said the appointments have largely favoured Muslims.
They said apart from the appointments not being fair to Christians, it is also “in breach of the law that created the Federal Character”.
The CAN Secretary for the North, Barrister Danladi Yarima, said this in an interview with newsmen in Kaduna on Tuesday.
According to Yarima, CAN is so far not happy with the choice of the President’s appointees as it has not been fair to its members.
“The question one would ask is that why is it that when it comes to appointments, the federal character principle even when it is adhered to, is always observed in the breach of the law that created it?”
Yerima said another question begging for an answer is that so far, why is every appointment a Hausa/Fulani Muslim?
He said: “Buhari should come out and tell us why every appointment now must be a Muslim or Hausa/Fulani Muslim.
“Is he telling us that in Kano, Katsina, Sokoto and other states he has appointed from that there is no Christian?”
Yarima said worst hit by the anti-Christian appointments is the North Central geopolitical zone, which he said is 90 per cent Christian.
He added: “Come to the Middle Belt, which has been worst hit by the appointment issue for every government in power, with the exception of (former President Goodluck) Jonathan.
“For decades, the Middle Belters have always been at the receiving end and the reasons are obvious, 90 per cent of Middle Belters are Christians.”
Barrister Danladi Yarima should learn to speak the truth as it is expected of a good Christian and a scribe to the prestigeous religious organisation CAN.I don’t know your North Central and Middle belt anyway but i’m from Nasarawa state and i know your statistics is extremely wrong.Christian Association of Nageria(CAN) was founded in the North by the Northerners but recently the nothern Christians were schemed out from the voting that produced the President for the orgsnisation (CAN).I didn’t see u protesting.
