It was an emotion filled event as many people could not hold their tears when the minister of State Foreign Affairs Hon. Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim presented
cash, food and non food materials to next of kin of school children that were murdered by Boko Haram in Yobe state on behalf of the wife of the President Aisha Buhari.
As the State deputy Governor Engr. Abubakar Aliyu gave a graphic account of how, some of boys were gruesomely murdered in their sleep in the hostels by the Boko Haram insurgents, the council chamber became charged with emotions, as some of the parents of the murdered school children and sympathizers burst into tears apparently bringing back the memories of their grieved and wounded hearts.
Mrs Pauline Tallen, the former deputy governor of Plateau State who was also on the entourage of the Hon. Khadija could not hold back her tears as she sobbed uncontrollably throughout the event.
Hajiya Khadija however pulled through to make her presentation to the deputy governor Engr. Abubakar Aliyu, saying, the First Lady, Aisha was touched by the plight of the people hence her intervention.
She describe the situation in the north east humanitarian catastrophe, adding that the First Lady donated the proceeds of her book lunch directly to the next of kin of all the students killed by Boko Haram in Yobe.
“We were sent here by the First Lady Aisha Buhari because she has felt the plight of these people. What we have brought here is Food items and monetary donations of next of Kins to students that died in Yobe State during the Boko Haram crisis. This is just to alleviate the sufferings of these people.
These donation is from a book she lunched from Abuja. All the proceeds that she got from the lunch of the book was directly to the next of Kins of the disease that lost their lives during the insurgency,” Khadija explained.
Speaking after the receiving the items, the state deputy governor Abubakar Aliyu extended the Yobe State Government gratitude to the First Lady but like Oliver Twist requested for more relief and food materials for the displaced people in the State.
Engr. Aliyu noted that Yobe State government will not be tired of seeking assistance from the now APC led Federal Government which according to him is more responsive than the old PDP Federal Government of Goodluck Jonathan.
The Tgnews recall that 129 students were killed by Boko Haram in Federal Government Collage Buni Yadi, GSS Mamudo, Government Science Scondary School Potiskum, Collage of Agriculture Gujba all in Yobe State between 2013-2014.
