The Executive Governor of Adamawa state, Senatir Mohammadu Umaru Jibrilla Bindow of on Saturday cautioned Muslims against insulting leaders, urged them to rather pray for Nigerian leaders.
Bindow gave the advice in Gombe at the 7th National Zikir and Special Prayer for the sustainability of peace in Nigeria.
The ‘zikir ‘ group is one of the sects that promotes worships by way of praises (songs).
The governor noted that fighting of leaders in power was an indirect opposition of God’s will.
According to him, God gives power to whom He feels, and at the time he deems fit.
He reminded those who were found of fighting leaders to desist or face the full wrath of God.
He also cautioned those who were constituted opposition against his government, urging hem to repent or face the anger of God.
“I wish to caution our fellow Muslims to desist from fighting those people in power.
“It is better to pray for leaders and not to disparage them for God gives power to whom he feels at the time of his choice.
“And whosoever that fights a leader will evoke the anger of the His.
“I want to use this opportunity to tell whoever that is opposiing me to be careful because whoever that fights me, God will crush the person, ‘ He said.
Bindow appealed to the Muslim community to pray for speedy recovery of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He also sought prayers for the entire Nigeria as well as both Gone and Adamawa.
The governor also encouraged the community to propagate peace and love among their members, advising them to support their members during elections.
He assured them of continued support for the growth of the gospel in Nigeria.
Earlier, Gov. Hassan Dankwambo of Home commended Bindow for supporting the Tijjaniya sect to grow in Nigeria.
Dankwambo, who was represented by Alhaji Umar Ahmed, Commissioner for Information in the state said that he would complement the efforts of the governor in the promotion of the gospel of Islam through praises.
Alhaji Bilyaminu Adamu, National Secretary of National Zikir Association urged the governor, whom they had chosen as the leader of the sect among Nigeria governors to support it’s national secretariat with means of transportation.
Adamu also commended the governor for his immense support to the sect.
Also the Hilaqu-Zikir Association of Nigerian presented an award as ‘ Ivan zakirai ‘ to Bindow in the recognition of his contribution towards the progress of zikir
