In New Year broadcast the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Senator Muhammadu Umaru Jibrila Bindow reminded the citizens of the state of his people oriented Government and is prioritising the needs of the state despite limited resources.
“Let me emphasise the fact that we are not magicians but we are determined to prioritise the needs of our people within our limited resources. That’s why we have fully paid our workers their salaries. Most importantly we have now cleared all our inherited arrears of Local Government workers by the end of last year, 2017.” He Said
He call on all the people of the state to rededicate themselves to the ideals of unity, peace and the development of the State in this 2018 that is the only way that development can thriving.
According to him the people of the state should unite to rise up to the challenge of politics,anchored on the need to make decisions in the best interest of the state.
“On our part, we are committed to continue our governance process based on our subsisting mandate. We shall never renege on our oath of office. That is our word, and it is our bond.” He added
Bindow says his government have encountered several economic challenges occasioned by lack of resources to meet up with the high expectations of the people,however everyone in the state have every reason to express appreciation to God because despite the difficulties encountered by most of the states, he was able to fulfil most of the obligations to the people,delivering projects to the people unhindered.
He said that :”The year 2017 has indeed witnessed massive physical and social transformation in various sectors of our developmental strides, with the construction and completion of over 315 roads across the state and the reconstruction as well as rehabilitation of 6 general hospitals.”
He continue to say :
“Government is also involved in transforming our dwindling education sector through our declaration of a state of emergency on education, which was followed with the construction and rehabilitation of classrooms and hostel blocks in many schools across the state. We are also turning around the agricultural sector with the purchase of about 150 tractors, as well as fertilizers worth millions of naira and other farming implements.
“While we have witnessed a few security challenge in some parts of the state, by and large the state was relatively peaceful and our people had continued to live peacefully with one another. Populations of some of our cities such as Mubi have increased to almost three times what it was before we came into office in 2015. We have continued to enjoy the confidence of all the people living in Adamawa state, especially people from other parts of the country. This is an indication of the peaceful nature of our state and the fact that our development strides have yielded positive response from critical stakeholders in the state.
“As we enter the year 2018, our resolve in Adamawa state is to continue to provide dividends of good governance to our people. Our commitment to effective governance is total. Our system is gradually maturing to the extent that we have reached a level where our budgeting system has been perfected and we are starting the New Year with a new budget. Our relationship have matured to a level that there is full harmony among the three branches of government.
“I must commend and appreciate the leadership of both the legislature and the judiciary for there support and commitment for the development of the state. It is gratifying to observe that the usual Executive-legislative face off that characterised the past has been permanently confined to history.
“I wish you all a very prosperous new year and abundant blessings from God Almighty.”
