2019 Election:APC files a petition challenging PDP at the tribunal

Adamawa State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thrusarday filed a petition at the election tribunal in the state challenging the outcome of the recent governorship election in which its candidate, Mohammed Jibrilla Bindow, who is the incumbent governor lost to the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP’s) Ahmadu Fintiri.

Speaking with newsmen shortly after submitting the petition at the tribunal, the state APC organizing Secretary, Lawal, said the party formally lodged its complaint against the election seeking justice. According to Ahmed Lawal, State Organising Secretary of the party who spoke to the Finder news sought for the declaration of APC as the authentic winner of the March 2019 governorship election in the state.

Lawal alleged that election in eleven local councils was marked with irregularities ranging from over voting, non use of smart card readers and violence. He also alleged that some of their supporters were intimidated and disenfranchised during the voting. “The party therefore, urges tribunal to either cancel votes from those local government areas or declare APC winner or order for fresh governorship election in the state.

The organising secretary however, said that though Gov. Mohammed Bindow refused to seek redress at the tribunal but the party has decided to petition the tribunal. He expressed confidence in the court process, boasting that APC will get justice with the available evidence at hand
