In an ongoing three days capacity building workshop in Yola,North East of the country,Prof. Umar Abdullahi Pate of the Department of Mass Communication, Bayero University Kano presented a paper on Conflict sensitive reporting toward the 2019 elections in an effort to equip them with requisite knowledge.
He drew the attention of the media men on how to avoid escalating and triggering possible crisis with their style of reportage during and after the 2019 elections.
Pate urged the Journalists to desist from allowing themselves to be used by desperate Politian and adhere to the principles of conflict sensitivity reporting among others.
The training which is a co-sponsored European Union and British council With support from enhancing State and community level conflict management capability in North Eastern Nigeria, expecting to arm journalists with the requisite knowledge on how to give accurate report on the coming 2019 elections.
Umar gave the journalists insight on to manage conflict,bring reconciliation and reintegrate society with good reportage.
According to him Conflict is a threat to societal survival,peaceful coexistence and System endurance.
He asserted that unbalanced report is uncertainty reduction of information.
