Bandawa Community of Taraba state Ravaged by flood.

Recent flood that damages most riverine communities in Taraba state has also affected Bandawa Community in Karim Lamido Local Government Area.

Speaking in an interview with our reporter in Jalingo,Acting President of the Bandawa Community Development Association, Mathias Manyi said houses and farm lands have been washed away as a result of the flood.

He stressed that farming and fishing remain the major occupation of the Bandawa people expressing worries on how the farmers can cope with the devastating effects of the flood that washed away crops like Corn,guinea corn,beneseed and other crops.

The Acting President stressed that a handful of farmers planted up to nineteen bags of rice in their farms with others who planted up to ten and five bags now living in uncertainty as a result of their huge investment in farming this year.

Mathias Manyi, revealed that businessmen from different parts of the state and neighbouring states over the years usually do business with the Bandawa farmers saying the present situation will affect the financial wellbeing of the people.

He pleaded with the Taraba State Government and the State Emergency Management Agency SEMA to come to the aid of the people in a bid to cushion the damaging effect of the flood.
