GROUP URGES PARENTS TO EDUCATE FEMALE WARDS ON MENSTRUAL HEALTH

A group Known as Centre For Water and Environment Development urged parents to educate female wards on menstrual health and hygiene so as to know what to do when they are experiencing menstruation for the first time.

The group a non governmental organization in a one day workshop held at the Government Girls Secondary School Yola, noted that most young girls are not thought on how to handle their first experience of menstruation.

A Project manager, Doris Akama disclosed this today in Yola, during the celebration of 2021 global Menstrual Hygiene Day.

Adding that this year’s celebration centred on girls at the secondary School particular Government Girls Secondary Schools in Yola.

Stressing that the aimed is to   educate them on the need to know what to at the first day of menstruation

Doris Akama says it is pertinent for the awareness on the female wards in order to reduce the stigamatiin most young girls faces on their frist 

She urged parents to always be friendly to their female wards at the early stage so that they will know the needful and the menstruation will not take  them by surprise.

She added that providing access to Menstrual Hygiene materials will assist in solving the problems cause exspecially students during their first experience.

“Girls faces physical and mental trauma during their menstruion as a result of discrimination and lack of awareness”.

Some of the students thanked the organization for the awareness, and expressed happiness as the awareness will go a long way in 
preparation them for their first day of the menstruation.

The students however appealed to the organization not to relent in what they have started because such awareness is seriously needed not only within the state capital, but their colleagues at the grassroots

With this one day awareness on the celebration of World Mentrual Hygiene Day, it is expected that parents will take up their responsibility in educating female wards at the early stage
