The lingering crisis between the host community and the Dangote Sugar Refinery, located at Gyawana, in Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa has continued unabated leading to lost of lives, properties and injuries to alot of poeple particularly causal workers in the company and the host Community.
The Company is always in the news over restiveness with the host communities, especially the casual workers.
Sometimes in May, 2017 a young man Kubi Zafarniya, aged 29 was killed by the bullet of Nigeria Army who was brought in by the management of the company to stop the protesting causal workers who were demanding for their salaries in a mirofinaince bank the company had asked them to go and collect their pay only to find out that the management played on them.
The story at that time was reliablely garthered by this repoter started because the management kept promising to give the causal workers a permanent and pensionable appointment to them after serving for years as causal workers.
It took the intervention of the then King of the land and governmet officials to stop the youths of the community from burning down the company.
Many years down the line, the story has gone worse as more Nigerians are made to work as slaves in what they now call “DANGOTE SLAVE YARD COMPANY”,
On Saturday, 30th July, 2021 another causal worker, Gad Jacob Lapwaboyo was buried in Gyawana after he was rushed to University Teaching Hospital Jos following injuries he sustained from bullets shot by the Nigera Amry who were invited by the management of the company about three weeks ago.
Gad Jacob, a 26 years old, an under graduate with the Open University of Nigera was among the six causal workers that were protesting against the management of the company over the poor treatment and the non forfilment of given them permanent appointment after many years as causal only to be shot by the Soldiers.
Gad, a father of three girls, started his primary school in Savannah in Suger Company now Dangote Suger Refinery in 2003 where he also met his death.
It was tears all over when the bread winner of the family who also a grand mother to take care of buried.
A victim of that dastardly attack by the Soldiers, a bread winner is gone, what becomes of his three girls Bridget Gad, Fortune Gad and Success Gad age between six and one year old and the aged grand mother Kaka Aminatu Dariya, this the questions been asked in Gyawana.
Not even the burial expenses was bore by the company nighter was there any representative of company at burial.
Speaking to newsmen during the burial of Hon. Bulus Daniel, the Administrator Gyawana Development Area, said the death of the worker is quite unfortunate saying that Gad died fighting for his right, but was killed the Soldiers.

“When I was called about the development, I called the Human Relations officer of the company, he ignored me and even the Soldiers there even threatened to deal with me”.
” What you are seeing now is as a result of the intervention of the Hama Bachama ( the King) some stakeholders in this Community”
” It is our King, the Hama Bachama that paid for every Kobo that is used for the burial including bring back the remains from Jos.
” We are tired of this reoccuring clashes, we are not getting the kind of relationship we are supposed to, some members of this Community are conniving with the management of the company to denie us our right and whenever we ask for it the management will call in Soldiers to come shot our boys in this civilized world”
