Considering the impact cause by Environmental and climate change in Nigeria’s economy, the country’s Ambassador to Portugal, His Excellency, Alex E Kefas has on Wednesday had a meeting with the Minister of Environment and Climate Action, H.E. Joao Pedro Matos Fernandes.
Their meeting in Joao’s office in Lisbon among many issues discussed the impact of environmental and climate change on many parts of Nigeria.
The meeting which according to Akex reviewed the existing bilateral relations between the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Republic of Portugal especially as it affects environmental issues.
Mr Kefas told TGNEWS that the discussion focused on devastating effects of climate change especially, the ceding of water in the Lake Chad Basin, deforestation and desertification.
The meeting also considered the bedeviling effects of drought, flooding and food insecurity, as well as the oil spillage in the Niger Delta region as an issue of paramount importance.
He also revealed that other issues relating to the water desalination, waste management to wealth creation and jobs opportunities for the unemployed were bilaterally brainstormed to see how it benefits Nigerians.
