Energetic and passionate All Progressives Congress, APC, die-heart, Mallam Jamilu Yusuf said best and credible candidates are the winning chances for the party to make headway come 2023 General Elections.
For this reason, the APC Man came together in a round table with the 21 local government party chairmen and their secretaries and brainstormed on how to fish out good politicians to face the 2023 elections.
In a town hall meeting which also includes Youth leaders and women leaders of the party of all the local governments, Jamil said the aim is to go for massive Enlightenment to the people on the need to get good hands for the party.
Jamil, in a press conference in Yola addressed the party stakeholders, opinion leaders, traditional leaders, development partners, public-spirited individuals, political elites, key decision-makers, as well concerned citizens upon which the power to elect leaders rest
He said the imperative for the development of a new Adamawa lies on all of their shoulders and they must bend on getting the right people to govern for a better state.
“We are the ones we have been waiting for. The fact that we are all gathered here in one voice and in one accord, focusing all our energies on the growth of our dear Adamawa is already evident of the change that will come soon.
“Through the course of this meeting we will rub minds and exchange engaging ideas all geared toward the responsibilities, rights, privileges and restrictions that surround the selection of the next level of people-centric leadership in our dear state. All of us gathered here are change agents that hold both the power of persuasion and the advantage that people listen to us when we speak and they believe what we say to be the truth. This power is a responsibility. We must steer our people have reposed great faith on us to the right direction.
“Adamawa state is richly blessed with human and natural resources, and its emergence into a fully economically viable entity lies in the crop of leaders that are in charge of the affairs of the state. We must choose leaders without making recourse to sentimentality. We have to choose leaders based on prospects and antecedents rather than personal or group interests. The generations unborn will hold us accountable for the decisions we make today.
“As the general election of 2023 fast approaches, it is important to understand the dynamics of leadership and what is expected from the electorates. At the end of this town hall meeting, it is expected that we will all have a clearer picture of our roles either as opinion leaders, citizens, political elites or party stewards. The next pathways we will follow will be decided here by all of us so that we reach a democratic, but yet completely traditional conclusion. Because before we seek to know where we are going to, we must be completely aware of where we are coming from.
“What we will agree on today will be based on the peculiarities and distinct characteristics of our state and how we can exploit the resources we have in our boundaries to get what we want. This we will achieve by assuming one united front, free of rancour and immersed in a result-oriented deliberation. So please, let us bring our ideas and minds together in order to move our state forward. There is no better time than now to do so.
“At the end of these auspicious deliberations, we would have achieved a unanimous direction of action and blueprint for the actualization of the deliberations that will be done today. Feel free to air your views, they will be met with unbiased and unprejudiced considerations; no idea is useless and no matter how excellent an idea maybe it will be improved upon and considered for adoption.
“Lastly, we should also deliberate on our security situation and the distinctive methods we may apply to improve it. Security is paramount for the perpetuation of society; it is that core ingredient without which all others fetter and wilt away. So, let us put our heads together to strengthen the structures within our party, and the dynamics within our local government areas as well as the people and materials that we serve as public servants and opinion leaders.” Jamil said
