The raging anger against the process of the invitation of candidates for interview for the post of Provost of Federal College of Education Technical Postikum is very much around as indigenes of Postikum continues to lament the selection process .
Desert Herald Newspaper came across a strongly worded letter written to the Minister of Education by an indigene in which the former provost of the College was accused of working assiduously to make sure that the current Acting Provost be appointed as the substantive Provost in order that their murky deeds be covered up .
The letter reads,
The selection/shortlisting process was carried out for the position of provost for FCE (T) Potiskum was to pave way for a single candidate Dr Madu Mohammed Inusa Ag provost who happens to be a partner in corruption of the former provost Mal. Madu Mohammed .
Sir, I wish to inform you that the college governing council shortlisted and invited only three (3) candidates for interview for the position of provost out of the sixteen (16) candidates that applied without adherence to the 1993 act establishing federal colleges of education in Nigeria.
The process of selection was highly manipulated without providing level playing field. Selecting only three(3) out of sixteen(16) candidates means no room for the selection of the first best three(3) on merit for onward processing to the President by the visitor of the college, Honourable Minister for Education.
The candidate selected and interviewed are as follows:- 1) Dr Madu Mohammed Inusa . Borno State . – Internal Candidate and 2) Dr Hassan Mohammed –Niger state Internal candidate and only one external candidate from FCE(T) Bichi Kano state.
Sir, you may wish to note that the first two internal candidates are cronies and loyalist of former provost Mal. Madu Mohammed that was found guilty of corruption by the last college governing council led by Prof,(Mrs) Esther O Adegbite . .
During the tenure of the last college governing council ,Dr Madu Mohammed Inusa was nominated and elected to represent academic staffs in the council but contributed in dividing the council in order to ensure the cover-up of the following allegations levelled against former provost Mal Madu Mohammed as follows i) Misappropriation of fifty-six (56m) million naira and ii) inflation of his salary by more than half million from 2013-2017, Exposed by Desert Herald weekly newspaper dated 1st- 7th Dec. 2020 pages 10 & 11 and Dated 19th -25th January 2021 pages 8 & 9.
Therefore Dr Madu Mohammed Inusa , current Ag. Provost who was interviewed for the post of provost collaborated with other council members to sweep under the carpet substantiated two major allegations of corruption against the former provost Mal. Madu Mohammed. His compensation was offer of appointment as deputy provost in order to have a continuation of a corrupt reign in FCE(T) Potiskum .
Dr Hassan Mohammed is a former Director College Consultancy services also corruption allegations was levelled against him after an internal audit report but covered by his boss former provost.
All Allegations levelled against former provost and role played by current Acting provost can be verified by Alhaji Umar Ali a former council member and Chairman Ad-hoc Committee constituted during the last college governing council to investigate a case of corruption levelled against the former provost.
Sir, you may wish to note Dr Madu Mohammed Inusa is a member in the current council who is all out to mislead them to save his former Boss.
Prayers :
We the indigenes of Potiskum local government are calling upon on the Honourable Minister to use the power vested on him to cancel the interview conducted by council and order for a fresh one with a view to be fair and just to other parts of the states within the catchment zone.
