A support group for one of the aspirants to the position of Governor in Adamawa State, National Assembly Aides Forum for Namdas( NAFFON 2023) has called on all other aspirants to the position of Governor in Adamawa State to step down for Hon. Abdulrazak Namdas as a consensus candidate of the Party. The group said it has become expedient to call on the good people of the State to ensure that they do not allow the deception of a few pretenders masquerading as contenders for the Governorship seat of the State to deny the State the pragmatic and transformative leadership of the lawmaker representing Ganye,Jadda,Toungo and Mayo Belwa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
The group, which made its position known, Tuesday,in Abuja when some members of its National Executive Committee paid a solidarity visit to the Member at his National Assembly office, stressed that the 2023 gubernatorial election was too important an issue to be left in the hands of pretenders to the seat of Governor. Members of the group also added that Hon. Abdulrazak Namdas has also proven himself as a serious political force whose footprints as a former SA to Governor,a former Deputy Governorship candidate of a major political Party in Adamawa State in a previous election and a two-time Federal lawmaker are everywhere across Adamawa State to see and reckon with.
According to the National President of the group,Lawandy Bala, who is also one of the longest-serving Senior Aides in the National Assembly,Hon. Namdas remains a man of destiny, who within the two tenures since coming to the House of Representatives, has demonstrated capacity, competence and character.
“I have been here for about twenty years and I have seen lawmakers come and go. Apart from a few people that I can tick off my fingers,Namdas remains one of a few lawmakers who have brought their mettle, brilliance, erudition in speech and writing prowess and, indeed,in team- playing abilities to bear on the affairs of the House of Representatives within a few years of being here.
” Apart from being an astute journalist and lawmaker, Namdas has got a certain finesse and panache that put a touch of class in everything he touches. If you bother to go down memory lane and recall the vibrancy the one some people like to call Junior Senator( You know he is representing four Local Government Areas, jus as most Senators) brought into the communication of the activities of the House of Representatives to its various audiences,as Chairman, Committee on Media, the official Spokesman of the Green Chambers, even as a rookie lawmaker then, you will agree with me that Hon. Namdas is deserving of higher responsibilities.
“It was, therefore, not surprising to some of us his admirers that after handling that position, many of his colleagues had beckoned on him to run for the position of Speaker of this 9th House of Representatives. And today, even as Chairman of the Committee on the Army,it is only he and Hon. Yusuf Capt Buba that,I can authoritatively emphasize, continue to make us proud in this National Assembly as indigenes of Adamawa State”, Bala revealed.
While calling on other aspirants to the position of Governor in the Adamawa State APC to seriously consider stepping down for Hon. Namdas as a consensus candidate,Comrade Lawandy Bala said the inglorious loss of the Adamawa guber seat to the PDP in 2019 as a result of an internal rancour in the then ruling Party remains an infamous mistake that must never be allowed to happen again in this electioneering year. He promised to use the group to appeal to diverse interests, groups and individuals in the Adamawa APC towards realigning the diverse interests in favour of an Hon. Namdas APC candidature for the State Governorship in 2023.
Responding, the Member thanked the group for their message of solidarity. He said their words of encouragement were not different from what he had received as he crisscrossed the entire Adamawa State lately in search of support and to let the people as partners into his development agenda for the State. He promised to remain true to his calling to better the lives of the downtrodden and the less-privileged people in society by giving them a voice and space to acquire a new lease of life. He urged members of the group, who he pointed out had obviously continued to follow the trajectory of his service and growth in public service to continue in their message of support, especially,to some indigenes of Adamawa State who may not know him well. He also thanked them for the branded materials which they presented to him at the visit.
Among those who were part of the visit were Pweshima Emmanuel, National Secretary of the group, Barr. Iliyasu Abdulkadir, the National Publicity Secretary of the group as well as Mr Emmanuel Hudson, the National Treasurer.
