…..stakeholders allege LG party officials for mortgaging the 10 man delegates list
Crisis may rock Lamurde Local Government All Progressives Congress, APC, over an alleged attempt to temper with the delegates list by the area party chairman, Alh.Mohammed Ibrahim.
Honorable Nakodopwa Ismail Vunoyekai, former supervisory Councillor of works and housing in an interview with TG NEWS said they are in Yola based on the directives of Alhaji Mamman Zuru to fill the forms of the ten-man list ahead of the party’s primary election that will elect candidates for 2023 general elections.
Ismail said he snipped a foul play in the whole exercise that raised poignant questions as to why must it be only Lamurde list should be filled in Yola?why must that be done at the state party’s Secretariat in Yola for Lamurde be called out of the 21 local governments in the state?
According to him in reaching the state Secretariat they discovered that the delegates of the ten wards in Lamurde local government list were divided into two
He said Gloria Markson holds one list while the other list was given to Vrati Sylvester Nzonzo, former council chairman of the local government, and is giving a serious division in the Lamurde APC that might bring the party into serious unresolvable internal crisis.
“We don’t know the reason why that the delegates list is divided into two, We are truly worried about the turn of events of our party, over 150 party loyal men and women stormed the party Secretariat to know what exactly is happening with our party.
“I fear that this may lead to a mass exodus of people to other parties if the exercise and the process are not well done in the atmosphere of transparency and uprightness,” Ismail said
While calling on the party leadership in the state to take quick action as some of them are ready to leave the party over the issue, he said APC in Lamurde had many wars of trouble and that the unity of the party at this stage is of earnest important.
“We want the whole world to know that APC in Lamurde is into a serious problem with the introduction of a new list over an existing list.” He added
He said that the real problem is how the party leaders are trying to set aside the old list to favor some aspirants, this is capable of mortgaging the party to those that pay handsomely on the delegates.
“We are only asking of the list that elected the state party officials, the existing list to be used in the coming primaries, not a different list. This is why we are protesting.” He said
Another stakeholder who was a former Legal Adviser of the party at the state level, Barr Shagnah Pwamaddi was at the party secretariat in Yola condemned the new arrangement as it has a way of killing APC in the state.
He said:
“The APC Chapter of Lamurde LGA has entered one chance by a teleguided Local Government Party Chairman Alh.Mohammed Ibrahim.
“The man thinks he can manipulate the list of Delegates against what the party at national and state levels resolved. Let Mohammed Ibrahim beware that we as a people cannot be manipulated by any pranks from whomever he had sold the party to.”
Hon.Smith Hamuel fumed out that the process is under a watch list of all party men and women in Lamurde to ensure the right thing is done, other than the expectations of the majority people they would not mind rocking the party’s boat to losing the coming elections.
Information however reached this medium that the matter is under control as the state Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Bilal assured all parties Faithful, stakeholders in the state of fairness and justice throughout the whole exercise.
