Delegates in Demsa have unanimously flipped over and endorsed the candidacy of Martins Yanatham Dickson as the choiced candidate to run for the State House of Assembly.
Martins who was at the APC secretariate in Demsa, to declare to run for the state house of Assembly for the 2023 general elections says he is ready to redefine the concept of representation when given the chance to represent his people at the Adamawa state house of Assembly in 2023.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony of his campaign for the Adamawa state house assembly, Martins said, “This is the age of technology and Nigeria from the federal to the local government levels need people of great ideas and that is what I represent for the people of Demsa.
“My ideas are concrete, real, achievable and a direct reflection of what my people need. I am very conscious of the mandate I represent and I am not going to he house to represent myself and my family.
“Our people need solutions for deeply entrenched poverty in our community. We need solutions to transform our traditional methods of crop and animal production into a modern and scientific means of production and that can only be done if people with great ideas and passion for the people represent us.
“Since we all cannot go the Assembly to represent Demsa, one person has to be there, that is the enormous task I am shouldering and I assure you that just as we started this movement together, we will win together and share in the glory together.
“My goal is to bring in much needed development to the people of Demsa and to achieve that, we have to work together as a family and win against the enemy of our progress in order to change the narrative of governance in Demsa.
“The people of my constituency have not been adequately represented but I am about to change that when I get to the State House of Assembly.
“We cannot keep doing the same thing over and over again and expect a different result. I am the difference and change that Demsa need and the future of our people.
“I believe that God determines everything and if God wants me there, then there is absolutely nothing anyone can do to stop it.
“My interest for Demsa and our people’s welfare is far greater and bigger than my personal ambitions of becoming a legislator. So, anyone could go to the house and they will have my full cooperation.
“But I have a testimony of going to places and achieving extraordinary things by God’s grace. I have been uplifted to several levels of professional and work successes with little or no effort, so going to the House of Assembly will be because its God’s work.”
Most of the locals who turned up for the event praised Martins as an authentic person who is committed to their welfare and that his behaviour and character is far beyond that of regular politicians because he relates to constituents on a personal level.
Following his declaration and in the wake of strange twist of delegates list tampering, Demsa delegates have resolved and made a U-turn, pitching their tents with Martins, claiming that there are local politicians of Demsa extraction who are bent on working with other people outside Demsa to silence the voices of the people of Demsa and impose candidates who have overstayed their welcome and usefulness for Demsa people.
They unanimously use this medium to voice their opinions that Martins is the absolute and authentic voice of every Demsa person, and if they doubt us, then “We go shock them.”
Rendezvous reliably gathered that Demsa residents from across several communities have continued to throw their support for Martins Dickson to represent them at the state house of Assembly. They say, there are people who feel they control Demsa and its people but they are in for a surprise. Martins has all the qualities to represent us with dignity and humility, and that he also has the capacity to listen and take our voices to the government at the center and bring in the much needed development for our community.
As the countdown to the primary continues, the chances are high and opinions around Demsa residents are zeroing in on Martins Yanatham Dickson as the preferred candidate poised to clinch the APC ticket for the state house of Assembly.
