An aspirant belonging to the All Progressives Congress party (APC) in Adamawa State, Alhaji Abdullahi Ahmed Musa (Speaker) said his intentions to aspire for the Governorship seat of the state is driven out of a genuine interest to salvage the state from what he described a “failed” government
According to Ahmed his capacity and capability as a world-renowned estate developer, he intends to run the government with zero allocation from the federal government.
He vowed to sue the government over the one billion bonds which they have planned to procure for the state agribusinesses for the purpose of huge investment and revenue generation for the people of Adamawa.
“I’m an interested party for this, I will not allow Fintiri to collect the one hundred billion bond, is going to lump the burden in our government unless he will pay within his two years remaining tenure this is because I’m certainly going to take over,” Ahmed Stated
He accused the present government to lack innovation and is being drained from good leadership ideas, a reason they can’t see the many potentials laying wasted without tapping on the resources to grow up the revenue base of the state.
He revealed that these issues and many others have made the PDP under Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri led government to have failed the State, and it is a compelling reason that will make the Governor to be replaced by him come 2023.
He worried that Adamawa is blessed with both human and natural resources and the people refused to come out to develop the state, only sitting down “docile and dormant”, doing nothing to save the “ineptitude” style of leadership experiencing.
“The basic driving factor is because the system is circling the same type of people who are always sitting down doing nothing but expecting federal government monthly allocation without any innovation.” He said
He continued to say that the government ought to be active, not docile, and be thinking out of the box, with a state that does not have water running through its pipes does need a flyover
“In this state where no one single tap is working and he is giving us flyover, to do what with it? to plight the bridge on an empty stomach?
” This is not a developmental strides as far as im concern. When we have a poor revenue base and he is borrowing to construct a flyover that can’t generate revenue, how can it be regarded as development? I mean to say that the Governor is doing nothing if he is doing something I would not have any interest to replace him, I wouldn’t have come to contest on a most serious note.
“I came out to challenge him because he has failed, and is doing nothing to rescue our dear state.
“I will run this government with zero allocation, we can farm rice more than Kebbi if we harness what is in the Lamurde, Fofure, Guyuk, and Numan axis. Kiri Dam is what I can use to generate power.
” No single state in Northern Nigeria that four aircraft fly through its air routes on daily basis more than Adamawa state. Why don’t the government own a state commercial aircraft? This is one of the reasons I said this government is lacking in innovation and ideas, is making the state so backward to our liking. Until I replace him there can’t be any development of any sort in the state.
” I can govern well. With my connection both home and abroad the bridges of relationship i built over the years and I’m still building, I will no doubt oust him in 2023.”
He faulted the flyover strides of development to engineering setback considering the Banks, Markets, and building alongside the bridges.
He revealed that if at all the flyovers are necessary and needed in the state, it wouldn’t have been the best option. According to him Four lanes is the best option because it has a clear cost reduction and that will help in saving a lot for the state’s revenue base.
Abdullahi agreed that the APC party will give birth to a possible crisis because of divergence vested interest but he however said he will remain in APC as a loyal man in as much as the party remains in power.
When all efforts to speak to Solomon Kumangar, Governor Fintiri’s Director Media and Communication failed our correspondent contacted the Governor’s extended image maker, Mr. Victor Dogo, his Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on social mobilization.
Dogo said Ahmed is someone having the guts that lack basic knowledge of what governance means or how is being run.
He said the wishes of Ahmed aren’t bad but he advised to go and learn well on how to be a good leader.
“I advise him to calm down watch and learn from what he can testify is being done by the ATM Governor.
“I am glad we all have TV screens to have watched the overhaul of our water treatment plants, replacement of decayed pipes activation of town water projects, bringing alive the ministry of entrepreneurship and the various lined up programs of finished projects that includes virtually all the young man seems to have issues with.
“But my dismay is his inability to separate what ventures government can embark on and what environment it should provide to allow private business en carry on with their businesses.
The mere fact that he downplays the city networking via flyovers and inter / intrastate road networks leaves me no option than to ask if your political value is a quarter of the vying contestant of the APC before even thinking of going into the ring with a person like Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
“Well, he tried but went off the needs and direction of a modern state in our today’s advanced Nation. His reference is on the figures rather he should consider the terms of the bond and surrounding circumstances leading to the need for the loan in this dispensation of government. The absolute conclusion that we will fail without hearing and considering our phase as a state at the moment is wrong. I wish to expound a little on the steps taken to rescue our state via the loan.
“Now the need for the bond and its appropriation is in multiple facets centered on boosting agribusiness from production, processing, finishing to marketing as would be embraced by our people. Facilitating every avenue that will be within our time frame and ensures an increase in IGR with an almost perfect recovery strategy on the revenue. I may need to plead with him to follow the strategic steps in governance employed by Governor Fintiri.
“In summary, considering the bigger picture of what has befallen Nigeria at the moment being the reason why I said we may not be absolute in outcomes with direct comparison, the situation today is a sophisticated one compared to other past government, we must capitalize on the moment, get this funds and not print our way out. The funny truth is that we will be worse as a Nation if it ends up that there is any truth in the cash printing saga. Lack of knowledge of governance by some in past destabilize the economy, threw us into an artificial inflation hike because the nation, not even Adamawa may be grounded.
“The loan is the only subtle way out while we invest on diversified sources as I said earlier, that can boost our revenue generation immediately. So going for this bond with better serviceable terms will gallows us to stabilize and make gains fast enough and later rebound.
“Sincerely you may have to think of something else because you can’t learn on the job of governance in Adamawa state of today”. Dogo said
This is coming when the 2023 political movement in Adamawa state has begun to get clear interested parties vying for the gubernatorial seat.
Douglas, the seat of Government in the state has begun to attract passionate politicians with bigger claws, sparrow mouths, and eagle eyes capable of might to fight their way into the government house. Until then, only time shall tell.
