Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, has urged the people of Ekiti State to cast their votes for him on February 25, 2023.
During Biodun Oyebanji’s oath-taking as governor of Ekiti State on Sunday, Tinubu delivered the speech.
He urged the residents of the South-Western state to cast 95 percent of their ballots in his favor and warned them against voting for Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party.
“Sharp your eyes, shine them. Don’t forget your Permanent Voter Card (PVC). They are coming. One will say he is Atiku, and one will call himself Peter Obi.
“You don’t know them. The only person you know is Bola Ahmed Tinubu and you must deliver 95 percent of the votes,” Tinubu told Ekiti People in Ado-Ekiti.
With the APC in power at the federal level in 2023, Tinubu reassured the populace that their future would be secured. He described the APC as a party that keeps its promises.
Meanwhile, Oyebanji, after the Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Oyewole Adeyeye, swore him in to the applause of the huge crowd on Sunday, made a commitment to preserve, safeguard, and defend the office of governor.
Before addressing the crowd as a brand-new governor, he observed a moment of quietness in honor of his recently deceased mother.
In addition, he promised to provide good government and prioritise youth empowerment in order to bring the benefits of democracy to the people of Ekiti.
Oyebanji also took the chance to praise Kayode Fayemi, the state’s immediate past governor, whom he referred to as his employer and mentor.
Before resigning to accept the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship nomination, Oyebanji worked as the State Governor’s Secretary under the Fayemi government.
He polled 187,057 votes, in the Ekiti State governorship election held in June this year, to beat his closest rival, Segun Oni, of the Social Democratic Party (PDP) who garnered 82,211 votes, and Otunba Bisi Kolawole of the Peoples Democratic Partu, who raked in 67,457 votes.
