This was contained in the message of the nation’s Charge D’Affaires En Titre in Libya, Amb. Kabiru Musa Gusau, when the Nigerian Mission secured the release of 40 Nigerian nationals earlier detained by the Libyan authorities for immigration offences.

According to the Nigerian Envoy in that country,Amb.Gusau, who was accompanied by some Embassy staff and members of the Nigerian Community in Libya to meet with the irregular migrants,Tuesday,in Tripoli, the Mission will continue to provide the 34 women and 6 men with shelter and refreshment until arrangements are concluded with the United Nations’ International Office for Migration (IOM) for their eventual repatriation to Nigeria.

Accordingly, all the former detainees, who expressed gratitude for the kind magnanimity of the Nigerian Mission in Libya, were all profiled and received under the care and custody of the the Mission.

Àttractions Magazine’s Iliyasu Rufai, who monitored the news from Abuja via Embassy officials in Tripoli, recalls that over 133 released illegal migrants in Libya were earlier airlifted to Nigeria a few days ago under a similar collaboration between the Embassy of Nigeria in Libya and the IOM.
