Speaking at the World Humanitarian Day commemoration in Yola, Adamawa State, Fall emphasized the need for collective action to address the alarming food insecurity and malnutrition levels in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states.

Malnutrition has severe consequences for children’s physical and intellectual development.

Fall visited a stabilization center for malnourished children in Yola, where he witnessed heart-wrenching scenes of babies fighting for their lives.

He stressed that malnutrition has severe consequences for children’s physical and intellectual development.

The UN Resident Coordinator expressed concern that resources to support humanitarian efforts are rapidly diminishing, with only a third of the required $306 million raised to address food insecurity and malnutrition in the affected states.

Fall called on governments, donors, and the private sector to pull together to address immediate needs and root causes of vulnerability, emphasizing the importance of development interventions, education, women’s empowerment, and access to basic services.

He recognized the dedication of national and international humanitarian actors, symbolizing hope for vulnerable people, and thanked the Governor of Adamawa and the Government of Nigeria for their support.

The event aimed to raise awareness about the humanitarian crisis in Nigeria and the importance of collective action to address it.
