A influential group of elders and leaders representing the diverse ethnic nationalities in Lere West Constituency of Lere Local Government Area, Kaduna State, has thrown its weight behind major APC figures for the 2027 general elections.

The elders unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term as President, Governor Uba Sani for re-election as Governor of Kaduna State, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas as Senator for Kaduna Zone One, and Hon. Engr. Ahmed Mannir as the candidate for the Lere Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
The high-powered endorsement followed a strategic meeting held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at the residence of Elder Musa Tugga in Kaduna. The gathering brought together respected leaders from across the five wards in Lere West Constituency.
In a strongly worded press statement issued after the meeting, the elders expressed confidence in the leadership qualities of the endorsed candidates.
“We are convinced that these leaders have demonstrated capacity, commitment to infrastructural development, economic reforms, and inclusive governance,” the statement read.
“We believe their continued leadership will bring more dividends of democracy to our people and the entire Kaduna State.”
The group further resolved that the House of Assembly seat for Lere West Constituency should be zoned to and occupied by a qualified person from among the ethnic nationalities in the area, in the spirit of fairness, equity, and justice.
To this end, the elders forwarded the names of five aspirants who have indicated interest in contesting the Lere West State House of Assembly seat. The names, presented in alphabetical order to Governor Uba Sani for his final consideration and selection of the most suitable candidate, are:
1.Ibrahim Kyaga – Kahugu
2. Luka Kwasau – Piti
3. Salisu Samaila – Kurama
4. Samuel Thomas – Amo
5. Tom Garba – Kurama
The elders pledged that whichever candidate the Governor selects among the five will receive the total, unwavering, and collective support of all other aspirants and the entire ethnic nationalities in Lere West Constituency.
“We pledge to work together as one indivisible body to deliver a resounding victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lere Local Government Area and Kaduna State at large,” they declared.
The group also called on all sons and daughters, youths, women, and stakeholders across Lere West to remain united, peaceful, and fully committed to this collective decision for the progress and development of the constituency and the state.
The statement was jointly signed by Rt. Hon. Prof. Matoh D. Dogara and Elder Musa Tugga as Co-Chairmen on behalf of the Elders and Ethnic Nationalities of Lere West Constituency.
This development signals early political realignments and consolidation of support for the APC in Lere Local Government Area as preparations for the 2027 polls intensify.
