In a stunning display of political resurgence, Dr. Salihu Girei Bakari, the acclaimed educationist and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant for 2027, has embarked on an extensive tour across local government areas, holding strategic meetings with party stakeholders that have electrified the APC base and shattered its long slumber.
The distinguished scholar and former TETFund Director of Research and Development has visited Girei, Numan, Mubi, Hong, Jada, Ganye, as well as Yola North and Yola South, engaging in high-level consultations that observers describe as a game-changer for the opposition party in Adamawa State.
Dr. Bakari’s whirlwind engagements have reawakened the APC from what many insiders called a “deep slumber” following years out of power.
Party faithful, elders, youth leaders, and women groups turned out in massive numbers, hailing the aspirant as the beacon of hope needed to reclaim Dougirei House in 2027.
In Girei, his home base, stakeholders unanimously endorsed him during a charged session at the APC secretariat, with crowds waving placards proclaiming a “2027 Rescue Mission.”
Former lawmakers and elders urged unity behind Dr. Bakari, declaring him the most sellable candidate to unite the state.
Moving southward to Ganye, over a thousand coordinators from all 21 LGAs converged in a voluntary rally titled “A New Dawn for Adamawa,” praising his past feats in education infrastructure and grassroots development.
Similar enthusiasm greeted him in Jada and Hong, where discussions focused on revitalizing party structures ahead of local and general elections.
In the central and northern zones, meetings in Numan, Mubi, and Yola North and South saw Dr. Bakari articulate a vision of inclusive governance, drawing from his transformative tenure as Executive Chairman of Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board (ADSUBEB), where he elevated the state to national top rankings.
Party sources reveal that these strategic interactions have injected fresh energy into the APC, long criticized for internal lethargy.
”Dr. Girei has become the talk of the town and the party,” said a senior stakeholder in Yola. “His quiet strength, intellectual depth, and proven track record are pulling everyone together. The slumber is over – APC is roaring back!”
Dr. Bakari, holder of traditional titles including Wakili Makaranta Adamawa and Magajin Garin Girei, emphasized unity and people-centered leadership in his addresses.
”We must rebuild our party on principles of service and progress,” he reportedly told stakeholders in Mubi. His calls resonated deeply, with participants pledging renewed mobilization.
Political analysts note that Dr. Bakari’s tour comes amid growing endorsements, including recent accolades like the Chamba Youth Council’s Distinguished Merit Award for Excellence.
His broad appeal – spanning intellectuals, youths, traditional rulers, and grassroots – positions him as the APC’s strongest contender against the ruling PDP.
As whispers of his formal declaration grow louder, with momentum building from these strategic meetings, the party appears poised for a formidable comeback, and the erudite aspirant has firmly established himself as the man of the moment.
