2027 polls: IREV glitch in 2023 won’t recur – INEC

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Joash Amupitan, on Sunday, assured that the 2023 IREV glitch has been eliminated.

Amupitan disclosed this during Citizens Town Hall Meeting on Electoral Act 2026 held in Abuja, the nation’s capital city.

He stressed that such a glitch will not surface in Nigeria again.

“The glitch in INEC IREV in 2013 has been eliminated, by God’s grace, it will not surface in Nigeria again,” he said.

Recently, Senate approved the electronic transmission of election results, with manual collation retained as a backup.

President Bola Tinubu signed the Electoral Act, 2022 (Repeal and Re-Enactment) Bill 2026 into law barely 24 hours after it was passed by the National Assembly.
