As Nigeria gears up for the 2027 general elections, a groundswell of support is building in Adamawa State for Senator Jibrilla Bindow, the former governor, to contest the governorship under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Residents across the state are rallying behind Bindow, touting his transformative leadership from 2015 to 2019 as the key to securing a landslide victory for the ADC, which has emerged as the platform for a powerful opposition coalition.
Bindow, who has maintained a low profile since leaving office, is being celebrated for his achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, and fostering unity in Adamawa’s diverse communities.
From Yola to the rural areas of the state’s 21 local government areas, residents are vocal about their desire for his return. “Senator Bindow’s record speaks for itself.
He brought development we still see today—roads, schools, hospitals,” said Aisha Mohammed, a trader in Girei. “We need him back to finish what he started.”

The Bindow Solidarity Forum, led by Bala Usman, has been at the forefront of this movement. Speaking in Yola, Usman urged the ADC to field Bindow as its candidate, assuring that the people of Adamawa are ready to mobilize for his victory.
“Bindow is the people’s choice. His leadership will make the ADC unbeatable in Adamawa,” he said. The forum emphasized Bindow’s grassroots appeal and inclusive governance as critical to the party’s success.
The ADC’s rise as the coalition platform for opposition heavyweights, including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and David Mark, has energized Adamawa’s political landscape. Analysts see Bindow’s potential candidacy as a game-changer, given his widespread popularity and proven track record. “Bindow’s humility and focus on development make him a unifying figure,” said Mr Yakubu, a Yola-based political commentator. “His return could galvanize voters and strengthen the ADC’s position.”

From Mubi to Numan, community leaders, youth, and women’s groups are already organizing to support Bindow’s candidacy. “The ADC’s mission to rescue Nigeria aligns with our aspirations, and Bindow is the leader to make it happen here,” Usman added. With the 2027 elections approaching, Adamawa residents are clear: Senator Jibrilla Bindow’s return is not just desired—it’s seen as the path to a brighter future for the state.
As the ADC coalition gains momentum nationwide, Bindow’s potential candidacy is positioning Adamawa as a stronghold for the opposition. With an enthusiastic support base and a legacy of impactful governance, Bindow could lead the ADC to a historic victory in 2027, reshaping Adamawa’s political future.
