Reactions has continue to trail the reelection of Godwin Obaseki in last Saturday”s poll.
In Yola, Adamawa State capital some Edo Community leaders who spoke with Authority Newspaper said the election generally had proven that things can still be done right in Nigeria.
The President of the Edo Community in the state, Chief Bawalkson Ilegienou noted that the result will go a long way in shaping the political landscape of the country.
It is a confirmation that we can get things right.
He commended the President, Police and other security agancies as well as all the stakeholders who allowed the vote to speak.
The President who is also the Aidojie of Iyuku Kingdom commended Governor Fintiri for his role he played in the Edo governorship election which was lead to emergance of Godwin Obaseki for the second time despite oppositions.
He said ” we hope that the reelected governor we learn one or two things for Gov. Fintiri in the Democratic devident to the people”
He advised the Victor and the loser to embrace peace that has been established through this election.
Ha called on governors and other stakeholders to emulate what happened in the Edo governorship election where the peoples vote was allowed to count.
Chief Henry Okobiemen, one of the community leaders of Edo Indegines in Adamawa said “the reelection of Godwin Obaseki is a sign that the people of Edo can not be cowed, we spoke in one voice”
” I commend the President, Mohammadu Buhari for allowing free and fair election in Edo”.
We must also thanked everyone particularly the governors and other stakeholders from across the country who ensure that godfatherism is broken not only in Edo state but it should be everywhere so that the People’s wish are allowed.
INEC has proven that they can conduct free and credible election in Nigeria when given the free hands to do their work.
Austin Ajayi, is a member of Edo Cultural Association in Adamawa, said “election has further confirm that the Edos can take decision for themselves and live as one”
