In recent times in Adamawa it’s a galore of threats as an audio clip purported to record Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri threatening to deal ruthlessly with a citizen, Hussaini Bello Nakura and another one in which a close political ally of the governor, Steven Maduwa threatened to kill a journalist went viral is still vibranting as a topical issue of discourse in the public domain.
Currently is another video clip in which the chairman of Maiha local government, Idi Amin, physically assaulted another citizen of the state simply known as Segun, has gone viral.
Our correspondent reports that both the chairman of Maiha local government, Idi Amin and Fintiri are elected under the banner of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the ruling party in the state.
The video clip has sparked another wave of anxiety in the state following spike of threats and assaults on ordinary citizens by governor Fintiri and his close associates.
In a phone chat with our reporter, the chairman of Maiha local government
area of Adamawa State who confirmed the assault on a mechanic popularly known as Segun, said the incident happened about a year ago.
He accused his Song and Mubi north counterparts of bringing back the video as a tool of blackmail in order to earn him rebuke and public sneer.
Amin said he has amicably resolved the issue with the mechanic and has enjoyed cordial relationship with him since then only for the rested video to be brought back to the public realm by his traducers to score a cheap political point.
” This thing happened one year ago and it happened because the mechanic defrauded me N3.9m over a car. I gave him the paper showing that he collected N3.9m to buy a car for me. When I wanted to collect the car he denied ever transacting with me so that was what brought the scuffle but later people intercede and settled us and everything was resolved amicably,” he said.
Amin added that what led to the renewed blackmail followed a misunderstanding between him on one hand and the chairman of Mubi north and Song local governments on the other hand.
He said the two chairmen even attempted to beat him up during a meeting with the governor at the government house chambers due to some issues that have to do with funds.
The chairman said he is not perturbed by the blackmail video because the person involved was not the one making the case against him.
Aminu through his media aide,Abdulganiyu Aliyu Pakka further said that the viral video was totally doctored video and is not the correct version of the real incidence.
Pakka said Idi is know for his human work and his down to earth nature to everyone that his colleagues can bear him witness when two of his colleagues assaulted during their meeting in government House.
“This video is sheer fabrication and brazen effort by our political enemies to mislead the public who are calling for the suspension of some chairmen’s that fought at government house few days ago, who are envy and want to distract the national award of Dr Idi Aminu, Rumbun Adamawa as best peaceful chairman in Nigeria after his international security meeting that yielding positive development in Maiha LGA and the state at large.” He said
Also reacting through a phone chat with our reporter, Segun, the mechanic who was physically assaulted in the viral video said because of the intensity of the slap, he could not hear well with the assaulted ear.
” The incident happened about two days ago in my workshop, but I have decided to leave the chairman to God. Right now I could not hear very well with the assaulted ear,” Segun said.
