Niger State Governor, Sani Bello, on Monday, confirmed that Boko Haram terrorists have taken over some parts of his state.
Bello, who raised the alarm while speaking with journalists, explained that the terrorists have also hosted their flag in Kaure village from where they had made incursions into more than 50 villages.
He, however, warned that the Federal Capital Territory, is not safe with Boko Haram taking over part of his state.
Bello, who is already perturbed by the situation, added that residents have deserted over 50 villages that were overrun by the terrorists and bandits.
He said, “I am confirming that there are Boko Haram elements around Kaure in the Shiroro Local Government of Niger State. They have taken over the territory. They have hosted their flag. I am confirming to you now that they have taken over the wives of people by force.”
The governor, also lamented that over 3,000 villagers had escaped to Minna, the state capital, on Sunday night alone, while several others were in camps in Gwada and other places.
“The majority of the displaced persons will have to remain in this camp in Minna because their villages have been taken over by Boko Haram terrorists and bandits. Their wives have been seized from them and forcefully attached to Boko Haram elements,” he said.
Bello also warned that Kaure, which has been taken over by the Boko Haram, is only two hours drive to Abuja, adding therefore the need for government to move into action before it is made their home like they did in Sambisa forest.
