Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, has mourned the death the death of three persons who died from a crash involving a Toyota Hilux Van, conveying a detachment of vigilantes, who are party of the governor’s campaign entourage to Gella Mubi South, in Adamawa.
Governor Fintiri, while speaking to party faithfuls, in Gella, Mubi South, for the first time, after, he was grief stricken, called on PDP members to observe a minute silent for deceased victims of ghastly road crash.
Fintiri had told the gathering that the party is in mourning, over the death of three persons, who were part of his delegation but had lost their lives owing to a road crash.
“The party is in mourning today, over the death of three persons who are part of these entourage but who lost their lives in a car crash,” Fintiri said while urging a minute silence in honour of the departed.
This medium had earlier reported that four persons were allegedly feared dead, as a result of road crash involving Governor Fintiri’s convoy, while it was enroute Mubi.
The unfortunate crash occurred around Fadamareke, in Hong local government, 80kms away from Mubi Town.
The head of the nondescript and informal security outfit, more commonly referred to vigilante, Bako Kaura, Adamu Kaura, biological son of the head of Fintiri/Farauta campaign vigilante group and another occupant were among the dead.
New facts on the accident revealed that detachment of the vigilantes, in haste to arrive the venue of campaign engagement for Presidential Campaign Council for Atiku and Governor Fintiri, had, allegedly pull itself out of the governor’s entourage heading towards Mubi, when the governor had a stop over at Hong.
The RAMP 2 Toyota Hilux, conveying 9 persons, allegedly travelling at break neck speed, lost control while trying to negotiate a dangerous bend, before Fadamareke. One residents who spoke to our reporter said the spot where the accident occurred was notorious for fatal road crashes.
He further disclosed that residents helped to retrieve three lifeless bodies of occupants in the van moments before Governor Fintiri’s convoy arrived on the spot.
The casualties from the accident were taken to Federal Medical Centre for medical attention. It is not ascertained if the three corpse, have been evacuated from Federal Medical Centre Hong to Yola, for burial of the victims according to islamic rites.
The Governor of Adamawa state, whose convoy, arrived the scene of the accidents, just moment after it occurred helped coordinated the rescue of victims from the crash site.
Only last week, Governor Fintiri narrowly escaped death by the whispers when a truck which lost control almost rammed into his stationary motorcade. Unfortunately, two vehicles on his convoy, were not so lucky as the truck crushed into them.
The incident occurred around the high brow, Dougirei Hilltop Agga Mosque, where the governor had gone to attend a wedding engagement.
Two policemen who sustained fatal injuries from the crash, were rushed to intensive care unit of the state specialist hospital.
