6 people dies in a clash between Munuye and Fulani in Taraba

Following a clash between Mumuye tribe and Fulani about six people have lost their lives on Tuesday Morning 23 May 2018 atFanti Sawa local government Headequarter of Yero in Taraba state.

According an eye witness  told our Correspondent that the crisis started between two people involving a lady whom her handset said to have fall on ground at a time when a Fulani boy was on the move with his cattle on same street and mistakenly a Cow matched on the phone and distroyed it. 

” The source name withheld says, the lady was walking on the street when her handset feltdown and there was cattle behind her and one of them stepped on it and immediately she mobilized her people who demanded that th  fulani guy  most pay her where they started argument which led to the death of two people instantly and later it escalated and the number of death increased to ten”. He said. 

Another source whox also pleas d anonymity disclosed that the Father of the Fulani Boy who was moving with the cattle is a Traditional Title holder in Mumuye Chiefdom, pointing out that the Father had collected the Phone to take for repairs or buy another one if the need arises.

“When we heard about what happened the Father rushed to the scene and pleaded that he repair the Phone or if it has been damaged he promised to buy a new one for her, but suddenly later in the evening some youth invaded  the area where the boy resides and started burning houses that a Fulani boy killed one Titus a guy that that also rushed to the scene trying to tell them that it was a rumour but could not stop them”. He explained. 

According to him, Yero local government is the most peaceful local government in Taraba State describing the incident as satanic act which is first of its kind in the history of the local government area and appealed to the government to put in place security measures to avoid it reoccurring of such violence as well as people of the area to see it as a trial from God and forgive each other for the progress of not only the area but the state at large. 

When contacted through a telephone,  Police Public Relations Officer ASP David Misal confirmed incident, saying that they have already sent their men to calm the situation and when they are through with their findings they will the figure of those that lost their lives available. 

” Yes we are aware of the crisis and we have since took drastic measures to ensuring normalcy in the area but i cannot tell you the figures of those that lost their lives until we finish conducting our findings and also i do not know about that a handset issue was the genesis of the crisis for now” He said. 

Our Correspondent learnt that the Military and other security personnel have recovered the Corpses of six fulani men out of seven,  while the remaining one was alleged to be buried by the Mumuye community at their Traditional room called “DakinDodo”.
