The 2018 Batch “B” Corps members deployed to Adamawa have been advised to distance themselves from all forms of criminality and be security conscious.
Malam Abubakar Muhammad, Adamawa Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) gave the advice at the opening of a three weeks orientation course for 2,030 Corps members at the orientation camp in Damare, Girei Local Government Area.
”I must state categorically that we don’t condone tendencies such as cultism, drugs abuse, drunkenness, religious bigotry, sexual harassment and the like in the NYSC.
”Anyone caught indulging in such acts, will face the full weight of the law,” Muhammad said.
He urged the members to interact freely during their stay in camp with one another to enable them know more about each other.
In his remarks, Gov. Muhammadu Bindow lauded the Federal Government for sustaining the programme.
Bindow, represented by Mr Ari Lutu, Chairman, State Planning Commission, said that the programme was among the few that still maintain the country as one unified nation.
”It is no longer news that this programme has sustained unequaled reputation since its establishment 45 years ago.
” I can unequivocally state that it is one of the very few programmes of the Federal Government which will never outlive its relevance.
” NYSC is one of the main reason that Nigeria still remain solidly indivisible and firmly integrated,” Bindow said.
The governor donated five cows and 50 bags of rice to welcome the Corps members to Adamawa.
