66th EXTRA ORDINARY SESSION: ECOWAS Leaders Gather in Abuja for Crucial Summit

The 66th Extra Ordinary Session of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Authority of Heads of State and Government is currently underway in Abuja, Nigeria. Host President Bola Tinubu welcomes fellow West African leaders, including the Presidents of Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, The Gambia, Guinea Bissau, Liberia, and Senegal, who are attending in person.

The session is expected to focus on advancing regional economic integration and ensuring institutional stability

Other notable attendees include the Vice President of Sierra Leone, the Finance Minister of Benin Republic, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Togo, and the Ambassador of Cape Verde to Nigeria. This crucial meeting comes at a time when the region faces significant political and security challenges.
