Human and environmental Development Agency (HEDA) attracted the wrath of former Secretary to the government of the Federation, SGF, Engr Babachir David Lawan for publishing a false financial impropriety story against him.
HEDA accused BD Lawan of 8 million dollars fraud under investigation on 19th July, and used Whistler Newspaper and opera mini to published a defamatory report of $825 million fraud of Dasukigate, Halliburton, and others.
HEDA in the report are calling on Economy and Financial crime commission (EFCC) and independent corrupt practices and other related offenses crimes (ICPC) to revisit Lawan’s case under investigation else they will stage a protest.
Lawan through his Counsel, Napoleon O. Idenala, Esq, said the allegations raised by HEDA against him is very serious and weighty without justification and basis.
The Lawyer reiterated that Lawan is a successful engineer of many decades and a politician of standing who served the country in the capacity of the SGF.
He condemned the publication by Whistler and opera mini as it exposed Lawan to hate, corn, ridicule and embarrassment from members of the public, friends, relations and many of his associates who are calling him from all over the world to explain the shock the have read which credited to HEDA.
“By your false and malicious attempt to malign the reputation and the integrity of our client without hearing from him before publication, he has been ridicule as a man without honor, integrity, dignity and portrayed as a dishonest and criminally minded person before Nigerians and the international community.
“Accordingly, we are unequivocally demand that retract your publication with a public apology to our client within seven (7) days of receiving this letter; Also demanded is a public apology to be published in two national dailies in Nigeria.
“Take note that if you fail, neglect and/or refuse to publish the apology as demanded above, we shall not hesitate to commence legal action against you for defamation and with attendant claims of damages and consequences for defamation.
“We hope that you will see reason and comply with our demands to avoid the sourness of litigatiudon and the attendant consequences.” Napoleon saidudu
