To set the ball rolling in his quest to continue with the provision of democracy dividends to his constituents, Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe, Senator representing Adamawa Southern Senatorial Zone, has embarked on a four-day free medical outreach aimed at improving and enhancing the wellbeing of his constituents.
Just two months after his re-election to the 10th National Assembly, the People’s Senator wasted no time in meeting the plights of the people of Adamawa South in his renowned and famous health service crusade.
No fewer than than 8,500 patients across Ganye, Toungo and Jada LGAs had been treated during the four-day outreach.
The flagging off of the free medical outreach, which was held at General Hospital Ganye recently, had attracted benefitting patients from every nook and cranny of Ganye Chiefdom and the neighbouring Toungo and Jada LGAs, who received various medical services free-of-charge.
Addressing the mammoth crowd at the flagging off ceremony, Senator Binos Yaroe pointed out that the latest Outreach is the 12th he embarked upon since he assumed office in May 29th, 2019 aimed at rendering free medical services to his constituents.
He pointed out, “As the Lead Consultant said in his remarks, we have conducted 12 mega free medical outreaches across the 9 LGAs of Adamawa Southern Senatorial Zone, and about five mini outreaches in the rural communities across the zone.
“Apart from those free medical outreaches, our mobile hospital has been going to rural communities to enable us render health service to people at the grassroots. The mobile hospital, during my first tenure, had been to Borrong, Kiri, Shelleng, Toungo, Kojoli, Lamurde, Jerreng among other communities”.
According to the lawmaker, though the pattern of the free medical outreach would not be the same as he did during his first tenure of four years, but he would do everything within his ability to ensure his constituents get free medical services at their doorsteps.
Senator Binos said that he was elected to serve and to be served, hence he would ensure the people of Adamawa South taste the sweet fruits of democracy dividends.
He noted that his constituents should expect more of dividends of democracy as measures have been put in place to empower people in various skills and trades, adding that health service delivery would go hand-in-hand with other provision of good governance and effective representation for the benefit of his people and for the betterment of his constituency.
The Adamawa South Senator said that he is committed and determined to enhance the educational status in his constituency, hence he saw the need to sponsor some bills for the establishment of some tartary institutions in Adamawa Southern Senatorial District.
In his words, “Even before now, I sponsored bills for the establishment of tartary institutions in Numan and Guyuk LGAs. But you know the Executive is the final say. But I will not relent in pushing further for such bills to scale through.
“We want equality in this country. We want fairness from the Executive Arm of Government. It does not speak well of government for a senatorial zone that comprises 9 LGAs without a single tartary institution. For the Federal Government to render effective democracy dividends, it must prioritize equality in its policies and programmes”.
While appreciating the unflinching support of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in ensuring the free medical outreach is successful, Senator Binos thanked Ganye Local Government Council, Ganye Traditional Council and the people of Ganye LGA as a whole for the support being given to him at the recently conducted 2023 General Elections.
In his remarks, the Team Lead Consultant, Dr Wycliffe Dah, pointed out that in the history of Nigeria, Senator Binos Yaroe is the only politician that embarked on free medical outreaches twelve times.
He said that dental, eye problems, surgeries of various ailments, consultations and other medical services would be rendered for free during the four-day outreach.
He stated, “We will render health services such as obstetrics and gynecological surgeries, eye surgeries and general surgeries. We are also rendering optometric services, distribution of free medical glasses, free medical consultations, dental services, family planning, free prescribed medication, free laboratory investigations, treatment of tropical diseases among others”.
Dr Dah drew the attention of beneficiaries to the fact that every health service to be rendered is for free, hence they should not yield to any demands of either money or favour from anybody who wants to sabotage the exercise.
According to the medical expert, 80 medical personnel came from 12 States of the Federation including Abuja for the purpose of the outreach, hence people should expect quality healthcare service delivery.
Also speaking, the Principal Medical Officer (PMO), General Hospital Ganye, Dr Jacob Zamani, who also spoke on behalf of the Adamawa State Health Services Management Board, commended Senator Binos Yaroe for embarking on a project that reaches the masses and the vulnerable in the society.
He appreciated the efforts of the Fintiri-led Administration in improving the Health Sector in the state, noting that the staff of the general hospital would be committed and supportive to Binos Medical Team towards effective health service delivery.
The PMO General Hospital Ganye called on the sick residents of Ganye LGA and the inhabitants of the rural communities within and outside Ganye to take advantage of the free medical outreach and avail themselves in order to be treated free-of-charge.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of Ganye Local Government Council (LGC), Hon. Jibrin Ali, thanked Senator Binos Yaroe for seeing the need to re-visit Ganye for another round of free medical outreach for the wellbeing of the people within and outside Ganye LGA.
Represented by the Chief of Staff (CoS), Ganye Local Government Council (LGC), Mrs Baiwo Wawu, the Ganye Council boss said that one good thing about Binos Free Medical Outreach is that all people benefit irrespective of religion, tribe or political party.
He commended Senator Binos for his commitment and determination to improving the wellbeing of his constituents.
While thanking Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for providing the needed dividends of democracy to the people of the state, he called on all hands to be deck to supporting the Fintiri-led Administration to enable it serve the masses better.
Senator Binos Yaroe paid homage to Gangwari Ganye at his palace, where he appreciated the Royal Father for his consent to embark on the medical outreach in his domain.
He told the traditional leader that he was in his palace to seek for fatherly blessings and to thank him and the people of his domain for their love and support during the 2023 General Elections.
Responding, Gangwari Ganye, HRH, Alh. Umaru Adamu Sanda, who described health as wealth, commended Senator Binos for embarking on such priceless project.
The Royal Father encouraged the lawmaker not to relent on his quest to reaching out to his constituents, where he prayed for Senator Binos to be guided and protected by God Almighty as he provides democracy dividends to his constituents.
Meanwhile, Gangwari Ganye, HRH Alh. Umaru Adamu Sanda, hailed Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe for his commitment and determination to improving the wellbeing of his constituents, describing the free medical outreach being rendered by the Senator as the most basic need of human.
Stating this shortly after inspecting health services being rendered by the medical team at the closing ceremony of the exercise, the Royal Father said that Senator Binos is a God-sent to the people of Adamawa Southern Senatorial Zone, noting that he was highly impressed with the way and manner with which the Senator touches the livelihoods of his constituents; especially in areas of employment and healthcare service delivery.
He stated, “I have gone round and seen things, and I can tell you that I am highly impressed with what I have seen. Sick people in their hundreds have been given free medical services, including surgeries. I call on other politicians to emulate Senator Binos in initiating programmes that will impact positively in the lives of people at the grassroots”.
While calling on the people of his domain to support government to enable it provide them with the needed dividends of democracy, the traditional leader prayed for the successful conclusion of Binos 12th Free Medical Outreach.
The Royal Father urged Senator Binos not to relent in his commitment and determination to meeting the plights of the masses, where he described health as wealth.
Disclosing the statistics, the Lead Medical Consultant, Dr Wycliffe Dah, said that the medical team was able to treat no fewer than 8,500 patients across the four days, hence exceeding the target of 8,000 to be treated.
Represented by Dr. Kudan Kamshak Deyin,an Ophthalmologist and former Commissioner for Health in Plateau State, Dah said that about 7000 medical and reading glasses had been issued out to beneficiaries, over 260 cataract surgeries had been carried out, over 286 dental cases had been treated, 310 general surgeries carried out, over 178 family planning addressed and over 4,210 basic test conducted in laboratory among others.
In his words, “Let me give an example. Averagely in this part of the world, if you do a cataract surgery, it will cost N40,000 to N50,000; that is the cheapest you can get anywhere. It can go as higher as N150,000 depending on which part of the country you are residing. Like Jos where I come from, we charge averagely N50,000.
“And if you look at the people here that came to access these services, I can bet you in a whole year, they would not raise this money to do this surgery. That is why if opportunities like this comes, you can see high turnout of patients”.
In his remarks, Executive Chairman of Ganye Local Government Council (LGC), Hon. Jibrin Ali, who could not hide his joy, commended Senator Binos Yaroe for taking it upon himself to improve the livelihoods and wellbeing of his people.
In his words, “I cannot thank Senator Binos enough for this huge project of rendering free medical services to sick people in this part of the state. This is what real good representation means”.
A cross section of benefitting patients and their relations, who spoke to pressmen shortly after receiving free treatment, thanked Senator Binos and prayed God Almighty to grant him the desires of his heart.
