The Yola deport of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has reached the plight of the flood-displaced communities in Gulak and Shuwa, Madagali local Government area of Adamawa State.
The Chairman of the Adamawa/Taraba States Chapter of IPMAN, Alhaji Dahiru Buba, presented to the affected communities who are now internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Shuwa primary schools with one hundred bags of food items.
The beneficiaries, who are mainly households from the villages of Gulak, Madagali, and Shuwa, were seriously devastated as a result of a flood disaster caused by a collapsed bridge linking Adamawa and Borno Stats some weeks ago.
The victims called on both state and federal governments to intensify the reconstruction of the road and the bridge linking the two states in the northeast.
They also called on the government and worthy individuals to help them go back to their homes, which were destroyed, to have shelters over their roofs.
“Our Houses are destroyed, our farmlands were ravaged by the flood, and we don’t have shelters over our heads, our means of livelihood are greatly affected.” They said
The Chairman, Dahiru, while consoling them, also presented hundreds of cash donations to them and assured them to convey their plights to authority and willing individuals.
Dahiru lamented the neglect by government officials and agencies who could have done the needful by resettling them before now.
