Born in Adamawa State, Larai’s educational pursuit began at Gombi II Primary School, where she obtained her First School Leaving Certificate in 1977. She then attended Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS) Yola, securing her SSCE in 1983. Her thirst for knowledge led her to the University of Maiduguri, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies.
Larai furthered her education at the University of Abuja, acquiring a Diploma and Master’s degree in Public Administration in 2012 and 2016, respectively. She has undergone various professional development trainings in Nigeria and abroad. She holds fellowship status at the Institute of Business Diplomacy and Financial Management (IBDFM).
Her academic achievements laid the foundation for a distinguished career in public service.

Larai’s commitment to service commenced with her National Youth Service program in FGC Maiduguri, where she received an award for meritorious service in 1992. Joining the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) in 1993 as an Assistant Superintendent of Immigration II (ASI II), she rose through the ranks to become Deputy Comptroller of Immigration in 2020.
