A Trailer claimed the life of 60 people in Adamawa

A Trailer loaded with cows and people numbering to hundreds had crashed down in Ngorore the most busy outskirt town of Yola North Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The long vehicle with registration number DKU 427 XA was said to have converged over 100 passengers and 60 heads of cattle was returning from Song market when the accident occurred.

A total of sixty (60) persons have been confirmed dead while 29 others were injured on Sunday night in Ngurore, a suburb of Yola North Local Government Area of Adamawa State as a result of an auto crash.

Eyewitness account disclosed to Newsmen that the driver of the vehicle which was on full speed lost control and swerved into the bush and ran into a deep ditch.

According to the eyewitness, the incident which happened at about 8.30pm Sunday night caused a long hold up on the ever busy Yola – Gombe Federal Highway.

The witness added that charred of human bodies and those of the cattle littered the area and it’s surroundings, even as many of them were smashed beyond recognition.

Humanitarian and Rescue teams were on hand to render assistance to the injured as the dead were evacuated to the morgue of the Yola Specialist Hospital.

Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the tragic accident.
