As I sit down to write this tribute, my heart swells with emotions, and my mind is flooded with memories of a woman who was more than just a mother to me. Mama Rifkatu Damina, affectionately known as Iya Ruthi, was a pillar of strength, a guiding light, and a source of unwavering love and devotion. Her passing on November 28th, after a prolonged illness, has left a void in my life that can never be filled.

As I reflect on the impact Mama Rifkatu had on my life, I am reminded of the countless ways she invested in me. She believed in me even before I started to believe in myself. She dedicated herself to my well-being, always putting my needs before her own. Her selflessness, kindness, and generosity inspired me to be a better person, and I strive to emulate these qualities in my own life.

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants

As I say goodbye to this remarkable woman, I am reminded of the words of Psalm 116:15, which says, “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants.” Mama Rifkatu was indeed a faithful servant of the Lord, and her death is a reminder of the preciousness of life and the importance of living a life that honors God.

Rest in peace, Mama Rifkatu. Your love, kindness, and generosity will never be forgotten. You may be gone, but your legacy lives on, and you will always be in my heart.
