The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa state said the party is targeting to bring in a new government to replace the people’s Democratic Party (PDP) government under the leadership of Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
Hon. Mohammed Abdullahi, State Publicity Secretary of APC said this in an interview with local radio responding to the recent defection to their party of the Senator representing the Northern Zone, Mr. Elisha Ishaku Abbo.
According to him, the APC party is not in control of the government in the state but the notable men and women that are leaving PDP to join them is a sign that the people in the state are not okay with the PDP government.
He said Abbo’s defection of Ishaku to APC is no doubt a plus to the party, making them have two Senators in the state.
He revealed that the Constitution of the party is always opening its doors widely for people to join, and new members will be treated fairly and be given equal rights as the old ones.
“The APC family in Adamawa State made a big catch as Distinguished Senator Elisha Ishaku Abbo representing Adamawa North Senatorial District officially defected from the PDP to APC on the floor of the Red Chamber.
“With this development, the APC now has two senators leaving the PDP with one.
“The APC leadership in the State under Alh. Ibrahim Bilal, our esteemed Stakeholders, and the entire APC family warmly welcome Distinguished Senator Elisha Ishaku Abbo into the Progressives fold where he rightly belongs.” He said
