The immediate past National Vice Chairman (Northeast) of the All Progressives Congress, Mustapha Salihu, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Adamawa State, setting the stage for what promises to be a defining political contest.

Arriving to a rousing reception at the Lamido Aliyu Mustafa International Airport, Yola, on Tuesday, Salihu proceeded to his campaign office along Bank Road, where he publicly displayed his governorship nomination forms, signaling both readiness and resolve.
Addressing an enthusiastic crowd of supporters and party faithful, Salihu urged unwavering commitment to the APC, emphasizing unity as the party’s strongest currency ahead of future elections. He called on members to consolidate the party’s presence at all levels of governance while seeking their trust and support for his gubernatorial aspiration.
In his remarks, the Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Bathiya Wesley, underscored the importance of continuity in leadership, noting that the legacy of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri demands a capable and steady hand. He described Salihu as a credible and worthy contender for the task ahead.
The event drew an array of influential political figures, including Senator Binta Masi Garba, former House of Representatives member Yusuf Buba, members of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, and other party stalwarts, all lending weight to a gathering that marked the formal beginning of Salihu’s governorship journey.
