In an official statement released Thursday, the leadership of the Adamawa state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has categorically rejected accusations made by Patricia Yakubu, a party member, regarding allegations of sexual harassment and financial misconduct within the organization.

The party leadership, led by State Chairman Barr Idris Shuaibu and State Secretary Dr. Raymond Chidama, emphasized their commitment to addressing any grievances through proper channels rather than through social media.
The statement comes in response to a write-up circulating on various social media platforms, which the party described as “erroneous, malicious, fabricated, provocative, false, and a figment of imagination.” The leaders expressed deep respect for Patricia, referring to her as a maternal figure within the party and asserting that the sexual harassment claims are baseless and unfounded.
We have been staunch and practical fighters against violence of any form toward women
“We have been staunch and practical fighters against violence of any form toward women,” Barr Shuaibu stated. “It is unimaginable that we would be subjected to such levels of blackmail, but we will not be intimidated. This will only spur us to continue defending women, especially the vulnerable.”
The party’s response highlighted that all financial allegations raised by Patricia remain vague and unsubstantiated. “It is left for Patricia to bring forward any proof she claims to possess,” Dr. Chidama added. “However, all matters raised will be referred to the disciplinary committee for thorough investigation.”
Leadership positions are established through congresses and not social media disputes
In a firm conclusion, the party leaders reiterated that leadership positions are established through congresses and not social media disputes. They called for unity and focused efforts to uphold the party’s values amidst the challenges posed by such accusations.
The APC remains steadfast in its dedication to integrity, accountability, and the empowerment of women, ensuring that all issues are dealt with through the appropriate internal processes.
