Adamawa All Progressives Congress (APC) Roundtable has congratulated Comrade Barrister Mustapha Salihu, PhD, on his formal inauguration as Chairman of the Governing Board of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).

The inauguration ceremony was conducted by the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, at the Permanent Secretary’s Conference Room in the Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja.
Shortly after the inauguration, Dr Salihu convened and presided over the inaugural meeting of the board at the TRCN headquarters in Abuja. The meeting marked the official commencement of his leadership role as Chairman of the Council.
In a statement made available to newsmen, the administrator of the Adamawa APC Roundtable platform, Dr. Musa U. Terrang, described the appointment as a deserving recognition of Dr Salihu’s competence, loyalty, and long-standing contributions to both the education sector and the APC.

Dr. Terrang further expressed confidence in the leadership capacity of the new board chairman, noting that his experience in governance, law, and party organisation will provide the necessary foundation for reforms and professionalism within the teaching profession in Nigeria.
According to the statement, Dr Salihu is not only a seasoned administrator but also a strong advocate for educational development and human capital investment. The Roundtable believes that under his chairmanship, the TRCN will strengthen its mandate of teacher registration, licensing, and professional regulation across the country.
The Roundtable which is a conglomeration of Adamawa APC stakeholders also called on key players in the education sector, including state governments and private institutions, to support the efforts of the new board in raising the standards of the teaching profession in Nigeria.
Dr Salihu, who hails from Adamawa State, holds the traditional title of Sa’in Adamawa. He also serve as the National Vice Chairman of the APC for the North East and has remained an influential figure in party politics and national development dialogue.
The Honourable Minister of Education during the inauguration, reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring that the teaching profession is well regulated and respected. He stated that the new board is expected to bring renewed energy and purpose to the council’s operations.
The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) is responsible for regulating and controlling the teaching profession in Nigeria. The council also oversees the certification of qualified teachers and works to eliminate quackery within the education system.
With the inauguration of the new board, expectations are high among stakeholders for reforms that will enhance the quality of teachers and reposition the education sector for national growth said Terrang.
