An All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator who is representing Adamawa Northern Senatorial District, Mr. Ishaku Abbo has violently kicked against the 2023 Muslim Muslim Presidential ticket decided by the flag bearer, Chief Ahmed Bola Tinubu.
The selection of Senator Kashim Shettima to be Tinubu’s running mate Senator Abbo has been described as insensitive to the plights of other Nigerians who are from the Christian faith.
According to him politicians are threatening the stability of Nigeria and stressed that stability should be considered first before political expediency, therefore Tinubu got it wrong on his choice of Shettima as a running mate.
While justifying his argument of the party’s wrong step of having a Muslim Muslim Presidential ticket, he quoted the Holy Quran 4:135 to have said:
“O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allah, even if it be against your parents.”
Abbo in his Facebook official handles condemned the move and vowed not to support the Tinubu/Shettima in 2023.
The Young Senator TG NEWS learned he left so many APC WhatsApp groups where he blatantly argued out his point before exiting.
He reiterated that the North East have Christians who are more qualified than Senator Shettima that can easily win the presidential election if paired with Tinubu.
Abbo sees it as another way of telling Nigerians that the APC is a party for the Muslims not for the liberation of the Nigerian masses who are in dare need of good leadership.
Since the pronouncement of Shettima as a running mate to Tinubu, the decision seems to have generated tension and apprehension, and Nigerians in support or against turned the issue into a discourse with hot debate.
