….says the congress marginalizes them, violates article 12 (ix) of the party’s Constitution
Women politicians in Adamawa State who are loyal members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have written a petition to the Chairman, party Local Government Congress Appeal Committee.
The women who are numbering over sixty wrote the petition seeking redress over what they described as “marginalization against women and the violation of article 12 (ix) of the party’s constitution (2014 as amended)”
The women who came under the auspices of APC Adamawa women in politics appended their signature to the petition committee chairman and draw the attention of the committee over what they say a serious breach of the provision of the law guiding the party.
While citing article 12(xii) of the party’s constitution, they said the provision has been violated where it stated that there shall be three (3) Delegates to the National Convention from each Local Government of the Federation, one of which must at least be a woman.
The petition which was made available to our correspondent by the President of the association, Hon Comfort .R.Ibrahim Ezra made known to the chairman that the article of the party’s constitution did not comply in Twelve (12) Local Government Area of Adamawa State at the 4th September 2021 Local Government Congress of their party.
While giving the details of the violation they revealed that Mayo Belwa, Yola North, Yola South, Maiha, Jada, Gombi, Song, Tongo, Madagali, and Hong LGAs had their offices in the last congress occupied by their male counterparts.
“In addition to this violation in the Ten Local Government Areas aforesaid, there are also similar violations in Mubi-South and Michika Local Government Areas.
” It is also very important to note that out of the 35% affirmative number of at least 21 women as National Delegates, only nine (9) women were elected as Delegates notwithstanding that nomination forms were purchased and filled by women as aspirants, we also wish to refer you to the list of National Delegates in the Custody of the Party at the State and National Secretariat.
