A facebook post by the publisher of Murya Magazine, Jamilu Yusuf, on the desirability and possibility of the candidacy of Dr. Mahmood Halilu Ahmed for senate in the forthcoming elections, has sent strong ripples to the political permutations and thinking in the Adamawa central senatorial district.
Dr. Mahmood Halilu, popularly called Modi is an accomplished businessman, philanthropist, famer and a seasoned politician. He is never an allien to the political landscape of Adamawa state.
Halilu was a keen contester who displayed a high political prowess in 2007 made great efforts to represent Yola North, Yola South, and Girei Federal Constituency. Not given it up to the white assumptions of political enemies on lossing to win to in total submission to the will of God at the last elections.
He remain a rallying point to his electorates, keeping a constant contact with those he consider political friends with active involving in the politics of grass roots,connecting with the diverse peoples of his constituency and this has further endeared him to them. He has since silently evolved into a people’s man in his constituency making him an epitome of political leadership in the senatorial district.
The possibility of his entry into the race for senate to represent Adamawa central senatorial district will for sure trigger political alignments and realignments; it will displace every other candidate in the race. Mahmood will come to the race armed with array of advantages over every other candidate. Mahmood has massive support from youths, well-established political associates and he has a political structure boasting of a large followership and strong connections with the masses.
The Man Mahmood is being consider a down to earth Man an easy going attitute making him approachable and accessible at all times. He is an adept business man, spearheading the leadership of a number of business entities. These factors coupled with calls for Yola South to produce the next senator for Adamawa central district give Mahmood the edge over other candidates.
Mahmood has proven his mettle as a political force by employing people friendly strategies to stay afloat and relevant politically after his previous attempt at the polls. Unlike other politicians, who after losing or winning an election, desert their constituents until another round of elections approach, Mahmood got more involved with his constituents up to grassroots level. Being a critical thinker and problem solver, Dr. Mahmood Halilu Ahmed will bring pragmatism and strong development ideas to the senate. As an experienced and successful businessman, he is an expert at working with people from various walks of life to achieve results, this he will also show in the senate to ensure the advancement of his constituency and the nation at large. With his excellent relationship with his people, Mahmood certainly understands the need of his constituents and this will be at the core of his contributions in the senate.
At 45 years old, age is on Mahmood’s side. His work experience is superb while his popularity in his constituency is always on the increase. Mahmood’s candidacy for the senate seat to represent Adamawa central senatorial district will be a game changer. His candidacy means the game is over for other candidates. After Jamilu’s post, many people in the seven local government areas of Adamawa senatorial district have vowed to use their resources, strength and intelligence to campaign for Modi. In fact, in Adamawa senatorial district, the electorate see a vote for Mahmood as a vote for President Muhammadu Buhari because of Mahmood’s unalloyed loyalty to Buhari and strong connection with his people- the constituents of Adamawa central senatorial district.
