Adamawa Court Issues Arrest Warrant for ADC Governorship Candidate Omar Suleiman Over Alleged Campaign Poster Violations

A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Jimeta, Adamawa State, has reportedly issued a warrant for the arrest of the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon. Omar Suleiman, over allegations linked to the improper placement of campaign posters and failure to comply with environmental regulations.

Court documents obtained by TGNEWS on Tuesday indicate that the case was instituted by the Adamawa State Government through the Office of the Attorney-General and Ministry of Justice.

The matter is said to stem from alleged breaches of environmental sanitation laws relating to the indiscriminate display of campaign materials in public spaces.

According to the warrant, law enforcement officers were directed to arrest and produce the defendant before the court to answer charges connected to the alleged offences.

The development comes amid rising political activities ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Adamawa State and follows recent concerns by government authorities over the proliferation of campaign posters, banners, and other political advertisements across public infrastructure.

The action has already generated debate within political circles, with supporters of the ADC candidate questioning what they describe as selective enforcement of environmental laws.

The Omarana Campaign Organization had earlier maintained that while it supports lawful political engagement and environmental responsibility, regulations should be applied fairly to all political parties and candidates.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Adamawa State Government nor the ADC candidate had issued further comments regarding the warrant.

The court is expected to hear the case in the coming days, with attention focused on whether the allegations will lead to prosecution or be resolved through legal and administrative channels.
