Adamawa State is still having only one case tested positive for covid19 as the seven front line contacts of index case have tested negative to the virus, a situation report by the state ministry of health revealed.
The report which was co-signed by Dr. Pembi Emmanuel, state epidemiologist and Dr. Jerry Pantuvo, World Health Organization’s (WHO) surveillance officer on April 26, 2020 noted that since the outbreak of the disease in the state, only one positive case was confirmed on April 21, 2020.
“Index case is a 47-year-old man who presented with cough, fever and body weakness on his return from Kano on 14 of April, 2020. Sample was collected on 18/04/2020.
” Patient is stable with all vital signs return to normal.
” A total of 25 suspected cases have been investigated, 1 positive, 7 negative and 17 pending,” the report said.
The report noted that a total of 94 contacts have been registered adding that 84 of these contacts are under follow up.
In the wake of the COVID-19 index case in the state, governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has imposed another 14 day lockdown on the state to contain the spread of the disease.
