Before his handing over to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the taking off of the national social investment agency.
Adamawa State Former Secretary to the state government (SSG), Engr. Umar Buba Bindir (Ph.D) was appointed to head the agency as its Chairman from North East

His appointment followed the passage of the National Social Investment Programme (Establishment) Bill, 2023 by the National Assembly and subsequent assent to the Bill by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The approval of the take-off by President Buhari of the National Social Investment Agency and the composition of the board of the Agency was equally done as follows:
Baheejah Mahmood Abdullahi, Board Member (North-East), Abubakar Ladan Zurmi, Member (North West), Nadia Ojochenemi Soso-Muhammed, Member (North-Central), Obinna Simon, Member (South East), Badom, Aleele Koote, Member (South South) , Aisha Oluwabakola Farooq, Member (South West) and Hon. Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, National Coordinator (North West)
Other members are representatives of, Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development; Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning; Federal Ministry of Education;Federal Ministry of Health;Federal Ministry of Justice;Federal Ministry of Women Affairs; and Federal Ministry of Agriculture.
