Hundreds of people were said to be displaced by an early hour downpour on Wednesday and ravaged Shuwa, a suburb community of Gulak in Madagali local government area of Adamawa state where Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri comes from.
Shuwa our reporter gathered that the rainfall today (Wednesday) sent many people packing out of their homes to safer areas.
A resident of the community, Alhaji Usman Musa Shuwa whose house was flooded with the waters said hundreds of people left their homes for primary school and many others to upland houses for safety.
Musa said the devastating state of the community is worrisome as the only place for safety accommodating the majority of the people is the primary school in Shuwa, and is now being partitioned by households and individuals to stay until the water resided.
While calling on the National emergency management agency (NEMA) and state emergency management agency (SEMA) to come for a rescue mission, he said the flood might also affect the people of Gulak, one of the nearby community shall there be any rainfall at any moment from now.
He worried about the negligence of some prominent people of the area, especially the Governor who happened to come from the area, and underdevelopment is the best description of Madagali Local Government.
Recall that the bridge linking Shuwa and its environs a few weeks ago was reported to have collapsed and the communities were cut off from normal life.
“We want the federal government as a matter of urgency to come fast for our rescue, our people are now homeless because of the flood.
” Let the Governor use his able office to save his people from this natural disaster,” Musa said
