The Former speaker of Adamawa State House of Assembly,Rt Hon Kabiru Mijinyawa in a town hall meeting he organised in Yola told constituents his plans of liaising with international Republic Institutes to address some of their constituency needs.
Dr Mijinyawa who is a second term Member representing Yola South Constituency under the APC platform in the meeting reassured constituents of his commitment towards meeting their legislative yearnings.
The Monday town hall meeting in collaboration with the International Republican Institute,constituents took turns to outline the various areas of center of attraction in his second term in office.
The former Speaker further said the essence of the meeting is to also thank his constituents for their support and hear firsthand information what their challenges are and discuss ways to address them where necessary.
While enumerating some of the achievements he recorded during his first time in office Kabiru Mijinyawa said he put education as number one priority in which over ten thausand students benefited from his scholarship scheme ranging from secondary schools to tertiary institutions and construction and renovation of classrooms blocks in various schools across the constituency.
He added that upon his assumption to office he embarked on water supply project which includes, providing health care structures and facilities, provision of small scheme water supply, drilling and repairing of boreholes, hand dug wells in hard to rich areas, electrification of some communities, provision of inputs to farmers, Youth and women empowerment among other employment opportunities.
He also revealed that, he facilitated from the State Government for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of both urban and rural roads in his constituency.
On taking note of all constituency issues raised by his people, Kabiru assured the people of his commitment to championing all their concerns and be their ever stronger voice at the State Assembly,he amongst other things, assured that he will do everything possible to provide more devidends of democracy to them
In their separate submissions the representives of the eleven wards of Yola South Constituency outlined some of the areas the lawmaker should focus on which includes, provision adequate drinking water, health care facilities in some areas, educational infrastructure, youth and women empowerment, evacuation of drainages and refused among other people oriented programs.
They commended the lawmaker for the successes he recorded during his first tenure in office and urged him to redouble his effort towards providing more developmental Projects to the people of his constituency.
There were good will messages from the stakeholders of Yola South Constituency who attended the town hall meeting.
The town hall meeting was attended by the Deputy Minority Whip of the House Alhaji Shaibu Dan Musa of Mubi North Constituency and the State Coordinator of the International Republican Institute Mrs Charity Anaja.
